When scoping out the functionality for your game-matched Extension, it’s essential to think about the experience you want to create for your users. We know that building an Extension has a lot of moving parts, so over at Twitch, we created our Extension Design Guidelines to help set you on the right path to creating a next level experience for your users.
In the Extension Design Guidelines, we cover Understanding Extension Users, to help you get an idea of your audience and what could be their motivations for interacting with the Extension; Choosing the Best Extension Type, when you should use a Component versus an Overlay and what to keep in mind when building for mobile devices; and even what you should keep in mind when building the configuration, so Broadcasters have an easy time setting up and implementing your Extension into their livestreaming experience.
There’s a lot to think about in regards to design when you’re building an Extension, so make sure to head over to the Resources page to access the Extension Design Guidelines to get all the tips. There’s a section specifically written for game-matched Extensions, so you won’t want to miss it!
We’re excited to see the kind of experiences you’re going to create!
